The Beach
As I watched,
The waves rolled in and out,
Spraying sea salt.
The sand tickled my toes
Crawling up my feet
The breeze from the cool air
Lifted my hair
And the seaweed
Rising and dropping,
In time with the waves,
Seashells clinging in my ears
As the sun shined on them
As I watched
The waves roll in and out
The reason why I based my poem on a beach is because when I first arrived here in New Zealand we took our suitcases to the house we were staying in, and then we went straight to the beach in Seatoun. It was a sunny Wellington day and the ocean was calm. When I first stepped onto the sand if felt like the sand was tickling my toes. That’s how I got the line” The sand tickled my toes” There was a Warf there so me my brother and my sister decided to jump off it. After me and my family had a swim we sat down on the sand and watched the waves roll in and out. That’s how I got the line “As I watched, the waves rolled in and out” It was a nice day but it started to get cold so we started to walk back home but then we saw some beautiful seashells shining in the sun. That’s how I got the line “As the sun shined on them.”
